MAC Surf Baby! Summer Collection

MAC has decided to launch a new collection as they do every summer, inspired by surfers and beach babes. The main product of the collection is the Magically Cool Liquid Powder which was launched as part of the Disney Villains collection in 2010.
I can't wait to try the Magically Cool Liquid powder as it has been used on my face a few times before during shoots and I loved how it felt!!
This collection is a mix of bronze, coral, teal and some frosted looks, PERFECT for summer!
What interests me in this collection is the gorgeous peach cheek powder (My Paradise), bronzer sticks, the nail polishes (Hangin' Loose & Ocean Dip), the coral lipglass (Strange Potion), the pigment stacks (Summer Stash) and the teal eye pencil (Blue Noon).
I loved their last summer collection, ''To the Beach", and I know people will love this! I just wish it had more little sets so I could save a little money here and there since it's not cheap here!

Face Charts from London Fashion Week :)

London Fashion week has shown as well that the looks concentrated on the elongated/cat eye, bold/red lips, and neutral eyes combined with either bare/contoured cheeks and nude/natural lips.
It can therefore be seen the cat eyes with bold lips, and neutral eyes and lips combined with contouring are what hot :)
The cat eyes especially have been seen on the red carpet, cat walks etc for months now and are still one of the hottest fashion statements!

Face Charts from Milan Fashion Week

It seems that many of looks focused on nude lips and neutral/heavy smokey eyes. The only look that actually had some sort of colour was the last. This type of look has been featured in Allure in tandem with a pink version of the same concept.

My absolute favourites  are the last 2.
The RED cat eyes, lips and cheeks are quite in fashion at the moment, however many must be very careful when doing a look as such as it can easily go the opposite direction intended and have you looking as if you painted on your cheeks and scratched your eyes until it got raw (that or red-eye or as if you're healing from a fight).
Be very very very careful and start of light then build in order to avoid looking totally horrible and keep in mind the red look may not suit everyone.

A look from Altuzarra (Fall Fashion 2k11)

Cat/elongated eyes are still very in these days.
Here's a simple look from Tom Pecheux:

Eyes:
  • Lady Grey Eyeshadow (available autumn/winter 2011) applied over the eyelids and upward through the crease.
  • Keep your cool pro longwear eyeshadow (available autumn/winter 2011) blended through the outer eyelid and upward to elongate eyes with a soft winged shape.
  • MAC pro platinum metal pigment defines the inner corners with a strong metallic highlight.
  • MAC pro rich purple chromagraphic pencil blended through the lower lash line.
Lips:
  • Diva lipstick over the entire lip with full coverage.
  • Beet lip pencil defines and perfects the lip.

Face:
  • Studio sculpt foundation blended over skin to perfect.
  • MAC pro bone beige sculpting powder pressed powder provides subtle warm contour under cheekbones.

I'll post the the look on me (or similar at least) and the products I used since not everyone will have all the MAC products. :)

Interesting Tricks of the Body ;)

Quick post!!
I came across these little tid bits of info the other day and decided to share it with you all :)

  1. If your throat tickles, scratch your ear. When you were 9, playing your armpit was a cool trick. Now, as an adult, you can still appreciate a good body-based feat, but you’re more discriminating. Take that tickle in your throat; it’s not worth gagging over. Here’s a better way to scratch your itch: “When the nerves in the ear are stimulated, it creates a reflex in the throat that can cause a muscle spasm,” says Scott Schaffer, M.D., president of an ear, nose and throat specialty center in Gibbsboro, New Jersey. “This spasm relieves the tickle.”
  2. Experience supersonic hearing!
If you’re stuck chatting up a mumbler at a cocktail party, lean in with your right ear. It’s better than your left at following the rapid rhythms of speech, according to researchers at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. If, on the other hand, you’re trying to identify that song playing softly in the elevator, turn your left ear toward the sound. The left ear is better at picking up music tones.
  3. Feel no pain!
German researchers have discovered that coughing during an injection can lessen the pain of the needle stick. According to Taras Usichenko, author of a study on the phenomenon, the trick causes a sudden, temporary rise in pressure in the chest and spinal canal, inhibiting the pain-conducting structures of the spinal cord.
  4. Clear your stuffed nose!
Forget Sudafed. An easier, quicker, and cheaper way to relieve sinus pressure is by alternately thrusting your tongue against the roof of your mouth, then pressing between your eyebrows with one finger. This causes the vomer bone, which runs through the nasal passages to the mouth, to rock back and forth, says Lisa DeStefano, D.O., an assistant professor at the Michigan State University college of osteopathic medicine. The motion loosens congestion; after 20 seconds, you’ll feel your sinuses start to drain.
  5. Cure your toothache without opening your mouth!Just rub ice on the back of your hand, on the V-shaped webbed area between your thumb and index finger. A Canadian study found that this technique reduces toothache pain by as much as 50 percent compared with using no ice. The nerve pathways at the base of that V stimulate an area of the brain that blocks pain signals from the face and hands.
  6. Stop the world from spinning!
  7. One too many drinks left you dizzy? Put your hand on something stable. The part of your ear responsible for balance—the cupula—floats in a fluid of the same density as blood. “As alcohol dilutes blood in the cupula, the cupula becomes less dense and rises,” says Dr. Schaffer. This confuses your brain. The tactile input from a stable object gives the brain a second opinion, and you feel more in balance. Because the nerves in the hand are so sensitive, this works better than the conventional foot-on-the-floor wisdom.
  8. Wake the dead!
  9. If your hand falls asleep while you’re driving or sitting in an odd position, rock your head from side to side. It’ll painlessly banish your pins and needles in less than a minute, says Dr. DeStefano. A tingly hand or arm is often the result of compression in the bundle of nerves in your neck; loosening your neck muscles releases the pressure. Compressed nerves lower in the body govern the feet, so don’t let your sleeping dogs lie. Stand up and walk around.
Hope this helped some of you or just gave you something fun to try next time you need it :) The one to clear my sinus worked for me :) xoxo

What a CUTiE Pie!!

The MAC Quite Cute collection is to be released on April 7th 2011 in the US and Canada and April generally for all other countries.

I was lucky enough to receive 2 pieces from the collection for my birthday from my sister-in-law. :) She knows me so well ;)

This collection is a conglomeration of pastel pinks, lilac, pastel blue, and all things girly :) Their Nail polishes for this collection look QUITE CUTE indeed :)

I received the Eyeshadow Quad in ''CUTiE'' and the Plushglass in ''girl<3boy''.

MAC Plushglass is basically a lip volumizer which is supposed to plump your lips, but not too crazy! It's a little smaller than the MAC Lustreglass (a 0.03fl/oz difference).
It comes with a convenient doe-foot applicator so you can guarantee even application.
The shade ''girl<3boy'' is a pretty pastel/blue toned pink. It's very creamy and goes on semi-opaque giving your lips a very pretty creamy pink tone. I personally love it!!
It's not very sticky, goes on really smooth, smells divine (like vanilla cupcakes!!!) and makes your lips tingle which is my favourite part. It does not burn like other lipglosses that claim to plump the lip, but it's a refreshingly tingly feeling. :)

The next item is the eyeshadow quad in CUTiE, which by the way is the only quad and eyeshadow in this collection.

What excited me a lot about this quad is that it's container is MAGNETIC :D so it kind of slaps closed and won't open unless you open it and there's no clasp or clippy part to destroy!! :D

The top row contains the shades: Moshi Moshi! (Frost) (a very light/pale green with of course a frost finish).
Goody Goody Gum Grop (Satin) (muted cotton candy pink with a hint of gold sheen).

The bottom row contains the shades:
Boy Crazy (Luster) (pale lavender with silver sparkles).
Azuki Bean (Frost) (dark purple).

Moshi Moshi is the lightest (in terms of whiteness) shade out of all 4. It has quite a bit of fall out compared to the others which really had none.
Good Goody Gum Drop is such a pretty pink. I love that it has a hint of gold in it which makes it girly with a subtle hint of glamour and luxury. It is quite pigmented compared to Moshi Moshi and Boy Crazy.
Boy Crazy is very very sheer. You see more of the sparkle than colour but I like it :) It makes me think of butterflies for some strange reason. I would describe this shade a very ''pretty''.
Azuki Bean is the darkest of them all and goes on a little sheer but probably because it mostly stuck to my finger and not the back of my hand (so never use your fingers to apply the eyeshadows in this quad). I personally find the colour is gorgeous and it's very easy to work with.

MAC eyeshadow quads are always great to get as you get full sized amounts for way less than buying them individually.
