Magnetic Polish!

A few months ago I posted, on my facebook page, the Nails Inc version of their magnetic polish.
Such a fun idea and such a new/different effect. The nail polish contains iron powder which, when the magnetic is held over it, gives it the unique effect.

I got my hands on another brand called LAYLA- MAGNEFFECT, this one was made in Italy, after refusing to actually go and buy it myself. For months now I've been denying myself of the polish because I thought I didn't need any more.

Let me tell you, it is SO MUCH FUN! I did my left hand perfectly, but I had to do over my right hand about 3 times because my left handle trembles quite alot and I kept moving the magnet instead of keeping it still, messing up my entire nail :( Other than that, if you have steady hands then you definitely won't have a problem and it'll be done in a snap.

What you do is you paint one layer of polish on your nail (not too thin, not too thick) and immediately hold the magnetic top of the bottle very closely to the top of the nail for about 5 seconds. After those 5 seconds you'll have a lovely magnetic effect on your nails. Mine reminded me of waves :)
Another bonus is that this polish dries really quickly, so you might have to work fast!
Do one nail at a time :)

I bought the black/grey one but there was gold, pink, blue and glittery/silver. I absolutely LOVE it!!

CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Fresh & Hydrating Cream Compact Makeup!

Hey Everyone!

If you don't know by now, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra Light Skin Perfecting Makeup is my absolute favourite foundation. Everything about it is lovely and the condition of my skin has a gotten better, not that it was bad before but it's just nicer. The foundation feels like it treats my skin very well and it looks amazing!

is a water-based formula that blends effortlessly and offers the lightness and radiance of a fluid with the ease and convenience of a compact format. The complexion is immediately hydrated and smoothed, with a look of natural, flawless radiance and a comfortable feel that lasts all day.   

This version of the Vitalumiere Aqua makeup is meant to provide slightly more coverage than the Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra Light Skin Perfecting Makeup (liquid).

While still not full coverage I would rate the liquid foundation as a light-medium coverage foundation, more medium I find even though I use a pea sized amount to cover my whole face.

It's also wonderful that it's creamy and not a powder so it will still give you that natural finish (not matte) and it's water-based NOT oil-based (hence why they call it "aqua") so it's better for your skin.

The great thing about the compact version is that you can just pop it into your bag and not have to worry. Much more convenient than carrying around a bottle of foundation with you, and it's less awkward to pull out a compact than whipping out a bottle.

I must warn you about Chanel's shade range. Chanel's foundations cater more for the lighter-medium skin tones (more light than medium) and their shade range isn't huge.
I'm an NC37 in MAC studio sculpt foundation, a shade 3 in Estee Lauder Double wear light, so my skin tone is relatively fair BUT I take b40 in Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra Light Skin Perfecting Makeup which is the second to last shade in the range. Theres b50 and that's it...if you're darker than that they don't have an option for you- which is disappointing since the product (actually Chanel foundations in general) is amazing and would work beautifully on darker tones :(

There are 10 shades to choose from and it retails for $58USD at Chanel counters.

It is a bit pricier than the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra Light Skin Perfecting Makeup, but the packaging is gorgeous and it's super convenient! Definitely worth a try if you're looking for a more convenient and "pretty" looking version of the Vitalumiere Aqua foundation.

Revlon Lip Butters: Take 2!

In a previous post about these amazing Lip Butters I gave you a run down on what exactly they are and how wonderful they are....so i'll do it again just to let you know...AGAIN :p

In 2011 Revlon released their Colourburst Lip Butters which thereafter received exremely high ratings from almost everyone who tried them. Youtube basically lit up with Revlon Lip Butter raves and from the time they were released they've been too hot to stay on the shelves for very long.
I managed to get my hands on ONE when I was in TX in Oct/Nov 2011 and I'm still in love with it. I only bought one because, I'm not really one to just go on hype, I need to try it myself and it made no sense for me to buy all the colours then realise it isn't that great. Well, it was better than great...Revlon Lip Butters are just AMAZING. After the first swipe on my lips I wished I had bought them all since they weren't released where I live yet.

The Lip Butters are a smooth, silky, super moisturizing almost-lipstick (and look like one too with packaging just like Revlon's Colourburst Lipsticks). They give a beautiful shine and glide on so smoothly...like butter ;)
A few of the shades are extremely sheer but some others are quite pigmented. The ones that are very pigmented have more colour than a tinted lipbalm, and almost as much colour as a normal lipstick. *Think MAC Lustre finishes*
They give your lips a beautiful wash of colour you can SEE.
My absolute favourite is "Berry Smoothie", a your-lips-but-better colour. I've been skimping on using it for a few weeks now just because I'm almost out of it...THEN (dun dun dunnnn) the distributers of Revlon in my country released them! WOOHOO!
Now everyone here can get them...well, almost everyone.

Within a day of them being released to one of our largest pharmacy chains the displays were almost cleaned out! Apparently word spread of how amazing they are. Literally out of maybe 50+ on a display rack, about 5 would still be there (in colours like creme brulee etc)...all the Candy Apple, Cherry Tart, Red Velvet, Raspberry Pie, Lollipop, Tutti Frutti and Berry Smoothie GONE. These were just introductory display packs and the full monty will reach us in late March!

Where are my new posts?!?!

Hey everyone!

I hope the new year is treating you well :)
I've been so busy preparing for exams and working and I haven't gotten a chance to post any of the things I planned to post :( Sorry for the lack of new posts...I'll definitely be posting soon, though I can't tell you exactly when :( but SOOOON. I have so much to put up...reviews, tutorials, skin care AND recipes!

Cake in a Mug #2- Coffee Edition

Hey everyone!
It's been a while since i've posted any recipies (well posted anything really) so I thought I'd give you all the version of the cake in a mug recipe that I use ALL THE TIME.

A dangerous little recipe ;) but so quick, convenient and YUMMY!

You Need:
1 Large Mug
2 tbsp Flour
2 tbsp Sugar (brown sugar tastes best)
1 tbsp Folger's Cappuccino Mocha Chocolate Mix (or any coffee mix)
1 tsp Baking Powder
1.5 tsp Cinnamon
1 Large Egg
1 tbsp Oil
1 tbsp Milk
1/4 tsp Instant Coffee

Method:

1. Combine all dry ingredients (except the instant coffee) and mix until well incorporated.
2. Now mix in the egg, oil and milk until well incorporated (may not be 100% smooth...as it may be a bit grainy from the sugar crystals).
3. Sprinkle the instant coffee on top and mix a tiny bit (they will not dissolve).
4. Pop into the microwave for 2 and a half minutes.
5. Sift a bit of icing sugar on top and....

VOILA!

TIPS:

• Do not use large grain instant coffee or the chunks you get in each bite may be too bitter for you to stand.
• Use a large mug to avoid the cake spilling over the top when cooking and making a mess.
• Add a little bit of unsweetened cocoa powder to a chocolatey taste!

The cake itself is not super fluffy with lots of big bubbles like how a boxed cake would come out. It is more dense, sort of like a pound cake consistency. It's so yummy and so dangerous. Personally more dangerous than the chocolate cake in a mug because it's super yummy and so addictive and will keep you up for a while!

First Post for 2012!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

This post has been due for about 3 months now :( oops.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE and have nearly used up ALL of my Revlon Lip Butter :|
So many people have been raving about these little lip butters and trust me these babies are AMAZING.

It's very moisturizing like a lip balm (a little more slick) but has great pigment ALMOST like a lipstick. The finish gives your lips a subtle shine, like you take care of them very well (in my case that's great because I don't take care of mine very often) and it lasts about 4 or 5 hours granted you're not chowing down on some food or drinking alcohol. I love how it makes my lips feel loved :) It's not at all sticky and gives just enough colour. The packaging looks just like the Revlon Colour Burst Lipsticks just with a translucent cap in the colour of the lip butter.

They're selling out fast everywhere so I advise you go to your local cvs, walmart, target etc and pick some up PRONTO. I got mine at cvs and I wish I had gotten more especially the shade "Red Velvet" since it's the most pigmented shade. I really should have stocked up since they don't have it in my country at all.

Some of the lighter shades are essentially CLEAR...more of a balm, but the "darker colours" (pink/berry shades to reds) are much more pigmented and I would describe them as more of a lipstick.

Little Update! Christmas is almost here!!

It's almost Christmas!!!!

I'm so excited! AND so busy :(
I'm literally spending my entire Christmas holiday doing school work and staying up until 8am every single day.

I was supposed to have about 3 or 4 posts for you all up since a few days ago but everything has been so hectic!

I'm hoping to get up 2 recipes for you all and 2 reviews! I HOPE!
