Estee Lauder Double Wear Light!!

I have been meaning to post this for the longest while now!

I finally decided to get a new foundation as the liquid foundations I have from Clinique are too pink and both shades I bought don’t match my skin anymore (I’m not sure if they ever completely did because I have yellow undertones).

This baby cost me $275 ttd in Senses and around $34 usd in the US, same volume as MAC, though I swore it had less in it since it’s in a tube.

My mummy had the EL Double Wear foundation which comes in a glass bottle but it is extremely thick and cakey. She also had the EL DW Light which I told her she should buy after she realized that the EL DW was way too thick for her liking and heavy!! I originally was looking to buy a MAC foundation but I ended up (somehow) taking mummy’s tube of EL DW Light and putting it on my face…and it matched perfectly!! So we ran out and bought one for me to keep instead of taking mummy’s own. The shade is Intensity 3…my ‘winter’ shade since around this time I’m extremely pale (even though we live on an island and the beach is relatively closeby). I don’t do tanning anymore because too much of it will wrinkle your skin and you’ll get sun spots PLUS when I’m in the sun and it’s too hot I get blood clot looking blotches all over my face and chin etc. NOT GOOD. I will have to go back or even go to MAC after c2k11 to find my ‘normal shade’ for when I’m slightly darker than usual. I am quite pale now

My take:

A lot of people may not find their shade in EL DW Light as it only has 6 shades. I was lucky enough to find mine!! The EL DW original has more shades but is very very heavy and full coverage.

I would personally say this is medium to full coverage…NOT SHEER. It’s not heavy but it covers with just one layer so you don’t really need to apply much. I like it because you don’t have to apply concealer if you don’t want to as it won’t make a whole lot of difference since the foundation covers it will. Even though it covers this well it does not seem like a second skin at all, actually I find I hardly look like I have any makeup on my face at all….like it’s naturally flawless!!

SPF is an added bonus! It is natural finish as it’s not matte but not dewy…I would say it looks like you haven’t broken a sweat all day but your face doesn’t look dried out.

The staying power is AMAZING!!! I swear this stuff can stay on for longer!! Once you put it on it STAYS on until you use makeup remover to take it off. You can splash and rub water all over your face and the makeup will not move. Pretty waterproof if you ask me. If you try to take it off with water alone you may have to scrape your face off! It comes off very very easily with Pond’s Cold cream I find. Makeup removing wipes don’t take it all off, so I suggest you use a makeup cleansing milk/cream/oil etc.

In pictures my face doesn’t change colour or get lighter or a funny creamy colour like Cinique made my face look. You look natural and it is the same colour when you look in the mirror and in the picture with flash! As mentioned before it is very lightweight so we can X that out.

It controls oil to an extent. It was fine at home and at the beginning of the party but of course I began to sweat. It didn’t make me look greasy but a little shine came through as I kind of do have to sweat as it issss a bodily function. Nothing an odd touch up wouldn’t fix or blotting paper (though I wouldn’t say it got so bad that I had to use a blotting sheet…so prob just a touch up is needed). I have not AT ALL broken out and my skin is just fine. The only areas I am always concerned about is the nose (especially the corners). If makeup is left to settle there for too long it will clog your pores regardless (any makeup brand…any claim). So I would say the only time it may affect anyone is if you don’t clean off your makeup and wash your face.

I am very very happy with the purchase and I would definitely keep buying this
A little goes a long way with this one but work quickly as it dries/sets fast!!!
